NHS Infection Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings

This document provides guidance on infection prevention and control for staff working within playgroups, nurseries, daycare centres, creches, childminders and for committees at Baby & Toddler Groups.

National Care Standards

The national care standards for childcare cover services for children and young people up to the age of 16 years which are to be regulated under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001.  They apply to public, private and voluntary sectors providing services over two hours a day and for six days or more each year.  

All 'Registered' playgroups adhere to the National Care Standards.  Non-Registered Playgroups / Nurseries do not operate for more than 2 hours a day.
